Feelings Detectives- A CBT Programme for Students with Complex Needs

This one day training course will provide you with the skills to implement the Feeling Detectives Intervention in your school. The Feelings Detectives is a 12-week coping skills intervention programme specifically designed for young people aged between 7 and 13 years with social communication and interaction difficulties, including autism. The programme teaches coping skills to help young people manage anxiety using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) principles. Young people can train to become Feelings Detectives led by the adult Lead Detective.
Supporting LGBTQ+ Students

This half day training will focus on common challenges and worries school staff may have about supporting LGBTQ+ students. We will develop your understanding and confidence in this area, with both whole school approaches and ideas for individual students. Included will be specific input on gender identify and transgender young people.
Emotionally Based School Refusal

Following the popularity of the workshop at our Anxiety in Schools Conference we have developed this half day training session. We'll develop your understanding of the underlying reasons for school refusal and provide practical strategies to help students return to school. We'll also identify preventative approaches to help reduce the risk of school refusal. This training is suitable for SENCOs, support staff and school attendance officers (Please note conference attendees- this workshop covers similar information but in greater depth).
Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)

This 5 week training provides ELSAs with a robust understanding of social, emotional and mental health needs. Areas covered include understanding and managing emotions, effective peer relationships and bereavement & loss. ELSAs will be able to plan and implement bespoke individual and group interventions in their own school.
Harnessing Mind and Memory

This is a half day workshop for promoting young people's meta-cognitive skills, to get the best out of their own learning. It will support you to build effective school practices in revision, exam preparation, and exam stress. Suitable for teachers, learning mentors, form tutors, heads of year or support staff. You will be supported to enhance young people's understanding of their own learning, thinking and processing ('meta-cognitive skills'). You will gain a psychological understanding of the basis for good information processing and recall. You will be given a range of take-away activities and resources you can disseminate to staff and deliver to students.
