Supporting pupils with grief and loss

This training day will use theory, practical strategies, and case studies to cover the following areas:

• How children’s understanding of death typically develops
• The stages of bereavement and grief
• Identifying appropriate sources of support: when does typical behaviour become a cause for concern?
• Practical strategies and resources
• How to help a school community deal with a death or critical incident
• A brief look at suicide: responding to suicidal ideation and preventative measures
