‘Masking’ is a description frequently used when describing the presentation of children on the autism spectrum, particularly girls, often where behaviour appears significantly different in school to at home. This training will:
- Help school staff understand and identify masking behaviour and frame it on a continuum of coping.
- Provide scripts and ways to discuss this potentially challenging context with parents to establish a shared understanding
- Establish effective ways forward for helping pupils build tolerance and learn to cope in sustainable ways.
